Who is the best basketball player in NBA history?

I am not talking about which player has the most titles, most MVP awards, etc.

Leaving out NBA championships and all other awards, Which player in NBA history is the most complete player ever?

Which player mastered all parts of the game (offense, defense, rebounding, passing)?

Which play has the most natural talent out of all players in NBA history?

Which player could shoot the ball from anywhere on the court (midrange jumpers AND long range jumpers from any angle, dunks, layups, fade aways, finger rolls, runners, teardrops, etc)?

I am NOT talking about titles. We all know that one player CAN'T do it alone. i am NOT talking about the best team in NBA history, I am talking about ONE SINGLE PLAYER.

So who is it?

Since you're not talking about titles and mvp awards then I'm going to have to go with Oscar Robertson aka the "big O".

He is the most complete player in NBA history.

His career averages:

25.7 points

7.5 rebounds

9.5 assists

44% FG

84% FT

1-time NBA MVP

Robertson put up in 1961-62, just his second year in the league: 30.8 points, 12.5 rebounds, and 11.4 assists per game-an average of a triple-double for an entire season. Not even Magic Johnson or Larry Bird could match those numbers.

During his 14-year NBA career with the Cincinnati Royals and the Milwaukee Bucks, Robertson became the top-scoring guard of all time, amassing 26,710 points. Among all players, only Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Wilt Chamberlain, Elvin Hayes, Moses Malone and Michael Jordan have scored more. His average of 25.7 points per game is the seventh-highest mark ever, and he averaged 30 points or more in six seasons. Although John Stockton and Magic Johnson have surpassed Robertson's career record of 9,887 assists, some argue that Robertson's total came in an era when an assist was credited much less generously than it is today. Robertson also averaged 7.5 rebounds for his career and led his team in rebounding once, a rare feat for a guard.

Robertson's playmaking and scoring brilliance were rewarded with commendation after commendation, and finally with an NBA title in the twilight of his career. He was NBA Rookie of the Year in 1960-61, played in 12 straight NBA All-Star Games, was selected to the All-NBA First Team nine consecutive seasons, won the NBA Most Valuable Player Award in 1963-64, and helped the Milwaukee Bucks win the NBA Championship in 1971. He was elected to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1979 and named to the NBA's 50th Anniversary All-Time Team in 1996-97.

At 6-5 and 210 pounds, Robertson was the first "big guard." Magic Johnson was only 1 year old when Robertson registered his first NBA assist, crashed the boards for his first NBA rebound and sank a jumper for his first NBA points.

Just how good was Robertson? "He is so great-he scares me," Celtics Coach Red Auerbach once said. Former teammate Jerry Lucas told the Indianapolis Star: "He obviously was unbelievable, way ahead of his time. There is no more complete player than Oscar."

He is simply the best!

He was good in all aspects of the game.

If Oscar Robertson were younger and would have played during Michael Jordan's generation I have no doubt in my mind that Oscar Robertson would be the one praised by all basketball lovers today instead of Michael.

Who is the best basketball player in NBA history?nba jam ,nba teams

not Michael Jordan
Oscar Robertson. His rebounding especially on his peak seasons are not something you would expect from a guard.
even though he is young i have to say lebron james
Micheal or Wilt
MJ
Michael Jordan no doubt about it. ask me again in 15 years and the answer will probably be Lebron James
I would have to say Larry Bird for sure. Look at it. He was playing during a time when blacks began to control the courts. He was white and still prevalled. He could dunk, although it was hardly ever seen. I really don't know if it was ever seen during games, but he could do it. He could stand at the three point line and sink em all night long with whoever they could put in his face, or he would dish the ball to one of his team mates and get an assist. This is what I call a great BALL PLAYER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...
either bird or MJ
Magic Johnson....
The answer to your question would be George Gervin. He mastered the game like no other, if it wasn't for his uncanny ability to create with his spectacular dribble moves and fantastic layups michael jordan would not have been as good. George gervin had great passing skills also. If he had ben surrounded with some help he would have more awards . Geroge gervin could shoot, rebound, pass, and create better than most of the players in the NBA today. If there was a second choice i would have to say Pete Maravich
it's between MJ and Larry Bird
Michael Jordan ...That's obvious.
kobe look at his highlight films
kobe is the most talented basketball player ever. his knowledge and skill surpasses everyone

he can hit shots from halfcourt to baseline

he is the best scorer ever- and he is playing in the best era ever

defense offense

there is really nothing kobe can't do

and now he's taking the backseat in the lakers offense- so finally die hard kobe haters can only speak out of ignorance

and there is really no way to guard him

you can put all the stats you want but the truth is kobe is by far the best player in the nba and is playing on another level that few can attain - and once he is zeroed in --- its really over

ive seen MJ take over games and kobe in some ways reminds of it

another part of kobes game people overlook is his ability to score without the ball

while most - almost all superstars in the nba if the ball is not in their hands they take a break theyll just stop moving and wait for the ball to come back into their hands- mabe a small little cut or screen for antohter player but for the most part they freeze

while kobe is setting back picks directing the offense and posting up

you always see him posting up and directing the offense

maybe this is the triangle offense- but he is one of the best at moving without the ball

he is also a great on ball defender

i mean go down your list and take the great players they all have weaknesses in some of teh catagories

what is kobe's weakness?

oscar robertson and mj would be right there as the most talented basketball players ever

but kb's inside game is better than oscar and outside game is better than mj

i would only say kobe because the player of today are better faster stronger quicker more athletic bigger and better defenders

i mean imagine someone twenty years ago trying to guard lebron? or amare with his combination of speed and power
Michael Jordan...
