Best 1-2 punch in NBA history?

For me it has to be stockton and Malone. 2 of the very best at there positions. Stockton has to be the best pure point guard, as he as over half as many assists as the guy with the second most assists all-time(stockton has most) Malone is 2 all-time in points and stockton is also 1 in steals by a margin that is incredible. i know they didnt win any titles, but if it wasnt for that stupid guy neamed micheal jordan, they would have had lik 3.

Heh, inspired by the other thread?

Gotta agree with you. The two are inseparable [think Karl Malone and I immediately think Stockton], and they essentially had identical careers with the same team.

And yes, they would have had many championships had it not been for Michael Jordan.

You could make a convincing case for other duos like Magic and Kareem or MJ and Scottie but I don't think they were quite as "dynamic duo" as these two. Those players seemed more like superstars who happened to be on the same team, rather than two players who really complemented one another.

All due respect to the Mailman and his personal Post Office, the greatest 1-2 of all time was Oscar Robertson and Kareem. They won a title together. The Big O averaged a triple-double over the course of his 1st 5 seasons. Kareem has more points than anybody in NBA history. Oh, and when they won their title in Milwaukee, can anyone name the rest of the Bucks' starting 5? The Jazz had other talent to along with Stockton and Malone. They didn't have to do it by themselves.
I agree if it wouldn't have been for Jordan, hundreds of players would have rings. He single handedly stopped a whole lot of hall of fame players from getting rings.

But I have to say Jordan and Pippen. Great offensive and defensive combo. Malone and Stockton were great but again, they just didn't get it done down the stretch and Jordan and Pippen did. So they have the edge hands down!
I think the one that put a halt on the Lakers dominance of 33 - wins. Milwaukee's Lew Alcindor A.K.A. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Oscar Robertson. Closely followed by the most succesful duo of Micahel Jordan and Scottie Pippen. Third Place should go to Magic Johnson and Kareem, Fourth would be the Kobe and Shaq duo.

Note: Bill Russell doesn't count because he is the ultimate team player and doesn't rely on another one man. Bill relies on his team concept. So he relies on four other men to keep them going.

Hope this helps.
kobe and shaq. inside-outside tandem. shaq dominates the paint while kobe takes care of the rest. both can score 30+ points in any given day. their dominance once led them to a 16-1 postseason record, 12 of which were straight wins coming from 3 straight series sweeps.
Jordan and Pippen wearnt a 1-2 punch dudes. The whole Chicago team was also a huge part of their success. I would say Shaq and Kobe was the best 1-2 Punch in Nba History
Oh of course it would be stockton and malone. They even made it like one word "stockontomalone". Best duo ever in nba history. GO JAZZ
Two Three-peats for a total of 6 championships in 8 years, it's gotta be Jordan-Pippen.
how many titles did stockton and the mail man win?

jordan and pippen got 6 and kobe and shaq got 3
Michael Jordan was the best 1-2 punch by himself.
Kobe and Shaq are the best 1-2 punch in NBA history!

Winning 3-straight championship rings!
I am feeling you on Stockton to Malone.
got to be PIPPEN-JORDAN combo.
bird and machale
kobe and shaq
